Corona Chamber of Commerce Annual Vote Record: Holding Elected Officials Accountable To Our Business Community

Senator Jim Battin and Assembly Member Todd Spitzer Vote with the Chamber 100% of the Time in 2007

The Corona Chamber of Commerce focused its efforts this year on 52 proposed pieces of legislation that would have positive or negative impact on our business community.  The Chamber Legislative Action Committee discussed each proposed law in detail and determined the stand we felt best represented you.  We communicated our position to each of our legislators and asked that they take a position to support our stand on business-critical issues. We are proud and grateful to report that both of Corona’s state legislators voted with the Corona Chamber’s state legislative positions 100% of the time this year!

“Our legislators work hard for our community and the fact that they voted with us 100% of the time is a testament to our collective effort to protect the economic vitality of our city and region,” stated Cynthia Schneider, Chairperson of the Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee. 

“The Corona Chamber is issuing its second vote record since 2006,” stated Bobby Spiegel, President and CEO of the Chamber. “We are continuing our effort to inform our elected officials of important issues impacting our businesses. We will continue to hold them accountable to our business community in 2008,” continued Spiegel.

The Corona Chamber of Commerce lobbied during the 2007 legislative session for our legislators to OPPOSE 30 bills and SUPPORT 22 bills.  The Corona Chamber of Commerce’s official positions on each of the 52 bills have been available online on this Web site including summaries and explanations of why the Corona Chamber of Commerce opposed and supported each.

To reach the “Percentage FOR pro-jobs legislation”, the Corona Chamber of Commerce tallied the number of times our legislators voted for the Chamber’s position and divided that total by the total number of bills in which each legislators voted. A bill is not figured into the vote record percentage if a legislator, for whatever reason, did not vote on a bill or if the bill died before the legislator had an opportunity to vote.
